18-year-old dead following motorcycle crash in Ohio

OHIO — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died early Thursday morning after colliding with a cow that was standing in the roadway, according to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash just after 3 a.m. on Sept. 4 in the 8200 block of River Styx Road. Authorities said a passerby first reported finding a motorcycle in the roadway.

Investigators determined that the rider, identified as 18-year-old Gavynn Patterson, was traveling north when he struck the cow. Both Patterson and the animal were killed in the crash.

The sheriff’s office said drugs and alcohol are not suspected. The Medina County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
