SOUTH CAROLINA — A 17-year-old Liberty resident was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon, according to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.
Emergency officials responded to the scene near the intersection of Breazeale Road and Ashley Lane. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as Leeland Cole Yates, 17, of Liberty. Authorities said Yates was a restrained passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Two other passengers were taken to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office. More information will be released as it becomes available.
