NORTH CAROLINA — A 17-year-old was killed Saturday evening in a head-on crash in Robeson County, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Moss Neck Road near Holly Swamp Church Road, outside of Lumberton. Trooper C.L. Oxendine responded to the scene of the two-vehicle collision.
Highway Patrol officials said Caleb Woodell was driving east when his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and struck another car head-on. Woodell was ejected from his vehicle during the crash.
Robeson County Emergency Services pronounced Woodell dead at the scene, according to First Sergeant Sherwood Lewis.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
