VIRGINIA — Tens of thousands of Virginians took home winnings in the latest Powerball drawing, according to a press release from the Virginia Lottery. More than 38,000 tickets purchased in the state won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000 in the Wednesday, Dec. 10 drawing.

The largest Virginia prize—$150,000—came from a ticket bought at the Wegmans located at 1835 Capital One Drive South in McLean. However, no ticket nationwide matched all six numbers, allowing the jackpot to climb to an estimated $1 billion for the Saturday, Dec. 13 drawing.

Powerball tickets are available at roughly 5,300 Virginia Lottery retailers as well as through the Virginia Lottery app. Anyone who matches all six numbers Saturday will have a choice between receiving the full jackpot in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash payout of approximately $461.3 million before taxes.

Lottery officials noted that every Powerball ticket sold supports K–12 education in Virginia. In fiscal year 2025, the Virginia Lottery contributed more than $901 million to public schools, representing about 10 percent of the state’s total K–12 budget.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
