15 people arrested following drug bust in Illinois

ILLINOIS — A multi-agency narcotics detail conducted Thursday, May 15, resulted in the arrests of 15 individuals in Quincy and Adams County, authorities announced.

The operation was a coordinated effort between the Quincy Police Department, Illinois State Police, Adams County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshals Service, Adams County State’s Attorney’s Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office (Springfield), and the West Central Illinois Task Force.

The detail increased patrol presence in the city and focused on the possession and distribution of narcotics.

The following individuals were arrested during the operation:

  • Christopher M. Arrington, 39, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
  • Michael D. Cramsey, 47, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for delivery of methamphetamine.
  • Corey R. Decker, 29, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Brandon D. Austin, 37, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for delivery of methamphetamine.
  • Shane M. Finley, 51, of Quincy — federal probation violation warrant.
  • John M. Garrett, 64, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for methamphetamine delivery between 15 and 100 grams.
  • Timothy J. Gustison, 45, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Shane T. Harrison, 50, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Charles J. Scott, 51, of Quincy — Marion County, Missouri, warrant for kidnapping.
  • Shawn D. Steele, 53, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for delivery of methamphetamine (5–15 grams).
  • James E. Thompson, 64, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.
  • Jeremy W. Williams, 42, of Quincy — Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Courtny R. Mayfield, 26, of Hannibal, Mo. — federal indictment for distribution of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Additionally, a traffic stop conducted by Adams County deputies near Fifth and Maple led to the arrest of:

  • Destiny E. Shoop, 29, of Quincy — felon in possession of a weapon, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, and armed violence. A firearm and a large amount of methamphetamine were recovered from the vehicle.

During the same incident, officers identified another suspect who had recently been in the vehicle.

Shortly after, they located and arrested Dartalyon A. Carson of East St. Louis. He was taken into custody on charges of felon in possession of a weapon, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, armed violence, and domestic battery.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
