GEORGIA — State and local officials announced Friday the conviction of 15 members of the Southeast Georgia Chapter of the Outcast Motorcycle Gang, marking the largest motorcycle gang prosecution in Georgia history.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr joined leaders from multiple law enforcement agencies, including Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney Billy J. Nelson Jr., Richmond Hill Police Chief Mitch Shores, Bryan County Sheriff Mark Crowe, ATF Savannah Field Office II Resident Agent in Charge Joe Waller, and Georgia Gang Investigators Association President Jose Ramirez, to announce the outcome of the case. The investigation resulted in the recovery of more than 100 firearms.

All 15 defendants pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit robbery by intimidation, and violations of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

The charges stem from an attempted armed robbery and shootout on June 17, 2022, at Flacos House Bar & Grill and the Red Roof Inn on Highway 17 in Richmond Hill. Authorities said multiple bystanders were caught in the crossfire, along with six members of a rival motorcycle gang who were the intended targets.

The prosecution led to the conviction of several top gang leaders, including chapter “President” Melaun Aiken, “Vice President” Eddie Latson, “Secretary” Lee Alan Mole, and “Road Captain” Joseph Leeks. Aiken was sentenced earlier this month, while the remaining defendants entered guilty pleas over the past year.

Investigators said evidence showed the group planned to violently assault members of a rival motorcycle club and forcibly steal their motorcycle vests. Officials also said the gang’s criminal activity extended across multiple jurisdictions, including several counties in Georgia, as well as Colleton County in South Carolina and Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
