OHIO — A 13-year-old boy was found behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle after leading police on a chase Monday evening, according to an update from Gov. Mike DeWine’s office on violent crime in Cincinnati.
Around 7 p.m., Cincinnati police attempted to stop a 2017 Mazda 6 that was driving without headlights near downtown. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused to stop, prompting police to alert the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit.
The aviation unit began tracking the fleeing vehicle from the air, but the Mazda soon crashed into another vehicle before continuing down the road. The driver eventually stopped on Plum Street, officials said.
Police identified the driver as a 13-year-old boy. He was charged with failure to comply, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business.
