INDIANA — The National Weather Service is warning that rain chances will increase across the region this afternoon, with daytime highs reaching the mid-40s to low 50s.

Tonight into Sunday, precipitation is expected to mix with or transition to snow, producing minor accumulations, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces.

Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 4 p.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday (EST).

During this period, periods of moderate to heavy snow are expected, with total accumulations of 6 to 12 inches likely. Some areas could see locally higher amounts, especially in elevated terrain.

Areas such as La Porte, Knox, and Valparaiso, could see over a foot of snow with this storm.
