OHIO — An Amherst resident is celebrating a major lottery win after claiming a $100,000 prize on the Ohio Lottery’s “$300,000,000 Extreme Cash” scratch-off ticket.

The winning ticket was purchased at Amherst Citgo, located at 109 Cleveland Avenue.

The man initially bought ticket number seven from the $30 game and decided to return a few days later to buy the next one in the roll—ticket number eight—which turned out to be the big winner.

After federal and state taxes totaling 28%, the man will take home $72,000.

This isn’t his first brush with luck. He says he regularly plays the “$300,000,000 Extreme Cash” game and won $10,000 and several $1,000 prizes last year. Amherst Citgo remains his go-to spot for purchasing tickets.

He plans to share much of his winnings with family and set aside a portion to enjoy for himself.

The “$300,000,000 Extreme Cash” scratch-off offers a top prize of $200,000 a year for 25 years. As of July 15, six top prizes remain available.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education. More information can be found at www.ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
