OHIO — Boardman police are investigating a theft of copper piping from the MAC BID building on McClurg Road.

Officers were called to the business around 9:30 a.m. Thursday after a worker discovered that copper piping had been stolen from the building’s boiler. The worker told police that everything was intact when they left around 4 p.m. the previous day.

According to the police report, the thief or thieves gained access through a side door via a crawl space, cutting and removing copper piping from the boiler area and other parts of the building.

The estimated value of the stolen piping exceeds $10,000, though additional damage may increase the total cost once a technician evaluates the boiler. No suspects have been identified, and the building manager has been notified of the theft.
