WEST VIRGINIA — A Powerball player is celebrating a $1 million win after buying a lucky ticket at Mardi Gras Casino in Cross Lanes.
The winning ticket from Saturday’s drawing matched all five white balls — 5, 20, 28, 39, and 42 — but missed the red Powerball number 13, falling just short of the jackpot.
Because the ticket holder didn’t opt for the Power Play add-on, the prize remained at $1 million rather than increasing.
The West Virginia Lottery advises the winner to sign the back of the ticket and call 304-558-0500 for instructions on how to claim the prize.
Saturday’s draw was part of the ongoing Powerball game, which features nine prize levels ranging from $4 to multi-million-dollar jackpots.
The current Powerball jackpot is estimated at $93 million. Tickets cost $2 each, or $3 with Power Play.
The deadline to buy tickets for the next drawing is 9:59 p.m. on Monday.
