MICHIGAN — A Michigan lottery player is among the winners in the historic Powerball drawing held on Christmas Eve, claiming a $1 million prize.

The drawing produced a single jackpot-winning ticket sold in Arkansas, which matched all six numbers to win the estimated $1.82 billion grand prize.

The jackpot climbed to approximately $1.817 billion after ticket sales, making it the second-largest lottery jackpot ever won in the United States. The only larger jackpot was a $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in California in November 2022.

While the jackpot was not won in Michigan, one ticket sold in the state matched all five white balls to secure a $1 million prize. Michigan was one of eight states with $1 million winners in the drawing, along with California, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and two tickets sold in New York.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were 4, 25, 31, 52, and 59, with Powerball 19.

Following the jackpot win, the Powerball prize has reset to its starting amount of $20 million ahead of the next drawing scheduled for Saturday. Tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. According to Powerball officials, the odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million.
