$1 million lottery ticket winner sold in Ohio

LOGAN — Though the holiday season hasn’t officially begun, one Logan man is already celebrating after winning big on a Christmas-themed scratch-off ticket.

According to a press release from the Ohio Lottery, the man won $1 million playing the “Merry Money” scratch-off, which he purchased at Tee Jay’s Drive Thru & Deli in Logan.

Rather than taking the full prize over time, he opted for the cash payout of $500,000. After taxes, he will take home approximately $360,000.

“Merry Money” is a $20 scratch-off ticket offering a top prize of $1 million or $40,000 annually for 25 years.

According to the Ohio Lottery, as of October 21, three top prizes still remain. The odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.73.
