$1 million lottery ticket winner sold in Ohio

OHIO — A lucky Akron resident is celebrating after winning $1 million playing the Ohio Lottery scratch-off game, Merry Money.

The winning ticket was purchased at ACME Fresh Market #1, located at 1835 W. Market Street in Akron.

The winner opted for the cash payout of $500,000.

After federal and state tax withholdings totaling 28%, she will take home approximately $360,000.

Merry Money is a $20 scratch-off game that offers a top prize of $40,000 per year for 25 years.

As of December 5, two top prizes remain available, along with other prizes.

The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $32 billion to education since its inception in 1974.
