OHIO — A man in Mansfield is celebrating a major lottery win after claiming the top prize on an Ohio Lottery scratch-off ticket.

According to the Ohio Lottery, the player won $1 million playing the VIP Millions scratch-off game. The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 876 E. Park Ave. in Mansfield. The prize was claimed on January 31, 2025.

The winner chose the cash option, which provided a one-time payment of $500,000 instead of the annuity prize. After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 28 percent were withheld, the player will receive approximately $360,000.

VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off game that features a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years or a $500,000 cash option. As of January 31, lottery officials said 46 top prizes remain unclaimed in the game.

Since its founding in 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to support education across the state. More information about lottery games and education funding is available through the Ohio Lottery’s official website.
