$1 million lottery ticket winner sold in Ohio

OHIO — A lucky Akron resident, identified only as Arvind, has claimed a $1 million top prize from the Ohio Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game.

Arvind purchased the winning $50 ticket at Family Mini Mart, located at 3105 Forest Park Blvd in Akron.

He chose the $500,000 cash option, and after federal and state tax withholdings, he will take home approximately $360,000.

VIP Millions offers a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years. As of April 28, 38 top prizes remain in the game.

Since its inception in 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education across the state. More information on scratch-off games and the lottery’s education support can be found at www.ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
